Confidence In Front of The Glass

I honestly understand why "I'm not photogenic" or "I hate taking pictures" is the first thing some people say when they are being photographed.

It's something about our confidence that gets shook when it's picture time. If you're like me, may be it's because you grew up watching ANTM and think you are supposed to imitate or "channel" an aspiring supermodel. And honey, let me tell you, that couldn't be farther from the truth.

The best person to "channel" when you are in front of the camera (and all the time really)- is YOU.  It's all about being comfortable showing who you rea (which is why I'm a big fan of candid photograhy). Being comfortable with who you are and all the expressions of you is true beauty in it's self.

So here are some tips to try during your next photo session (or selfie session *wink*) that will help you get comfortable and feel confident in front of the camera.

  1. Get to know your photographer: 'Chop it up a little bit before you start getting to it!

  2. Wear comfortable clothing: Of course, you need to be comfortable in what you have on.

  3. Know your angles: This is something you can practice at home in the mirror when you're getting out the shower or when you have a moment to your self.  Don't act like you haven't done it before lol.

  4. Communicate with the photographer if you feel uncomfortable: If you start to feel uncomfortable, it's okay to tell your photographer. They will help you work through that.

  5. Trust your photographer: By all means, how you look also reflects them, so they are going to do everything they can to make sure you're looking comfortable and your best.

  6. Relax: Taking pictures is something fun- not stressful. So don't make this bigger than it really is.

  7. Have fun: I'll say it one more time for the people in the back- HAVE FUN!  Again this is your opportunity to show us who you are at this particular moment. Because who knows....you could be at a totally "different person" in a year or two- so why not live in the moment!

Now go knock 'em dead!
